Ali H. Zadeh, Chief Executive Officer
Before founding the EDI-Health Group, Mr. Zadeh was president and founder of
Medident Systems, a practice management software company. During his eight-year
stint, his responsibilities included managing the software development,
customer support, consulting services, training, human resources, and
administration. His company was responsible for providing software solutions to
more than 500 dental customers but due to his full time involvement in the EDI
venture, Medident System was sold to Data Team DDS, another reputable firm in
the dental practice management business. In addition to his extensive dental
management background, Mr. Zadeh served as a member of faculty in the
California State University, Long Beach for 5 years. He has taught various
courses in Electrical and Computer Science Engineering. He received his
bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California,
Irvine in 1983 and his master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from
Long Beach State University in 1985.
Kavian Maghzy, Chief Technical Officer,
Treasurer
Graduated from Columbia University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Project Manager for various Data
Warehouse and E-Commerce efforts utilizing Oracle, DB2, Java, ASP, and other
Web based applications. Served as technical consultant in evaluating database
engines, repository managers and query tools for Data Warehouse and
E-Businesses efforts in many different environments. Configured and installed
star and snowflake schemas, designed and implemented metadata repositories and
worked with the multi-dimensional hypercube methodology for both Operational
Data Stores and Data Warehousing projects within several corporate entities and
governmental agencies using state-of-the-art decision support technologies.
Have worked fifteen years developing complex data processing applications
within the three-tiered client/server arena. Expertise in the DB2/CICS, IMS,
Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, Java, COBOL II, CLIST, ISPF Dialog Manager, JCL,
TCP/IP, REXX, WebLogic, PowerBuilder, Windows95/98-NT, AIX UNIX, Solaris,
Business Objects, Information Advantage, FOCUS, DSS Agents, Oracle, Redbrick,
Prism and Brownstone.
Scott D. Wellwood, Chief Operating Officer
Co-founded Electronic Insurance Service, Inc. in 1989 to serve the claim
processing needs of the dental market. Over the last 13 years, EIS has forged
relationships with numerous practice management system vendors, clearinghouses
and Payors. EIS is one of the most well respected clearinghouses in the
country. Co-founded EDI-Health Group, Inc. in 1999 to integrate EIS core
services with the emerging Internet market. Mr. Wellwood earned a degree in
Business Management from California State University at Fullerton in 1982. He
also served as Chairman of the Membership committee of the National Dental EDI
Council (NDEDIC) and currently is a member of board the trustees for the same
organization.
Alan Neal, Executive Vice President, Business
Operations
Mr. Neal co-founded Electronic Insurance Service, Inc. along with Mr. Wellwood
in 1989. His vision was to establish a service-oriented company dedicated to
addressing the needs of the dental industry in the area of practice efficiency
by utilizing electronic claims. He has started, ran and sold several successful
businesses in the retail industry since 1972. Mr. Neal oversees the day-to-day
business operations of the company. His dental background and experience comes
from his tenure as an office manager and dental technician for a large dental
practice, while attending college. Mr. Neal received his Bachelor of Science in
the Biological Sciences from the California State Polytechnic University,
Pomona.
Kevin Lewis, Executive Vice President,
Technical Development
Served as Project Manager for multiple projects using OLTP, Data Mart, and Data
Warehousing environments. Installed and maintained metadata repositories for
use with Data Warehouse/ad-hoc query generation tools. Perform all aspects of
database administration from loading data to modeling tables and related
schema. Maintained 24/7 UNIX and Windows NT systems including operating system
and various applications residing on the servers, such as, Weblogic and
Websphere Application servers, Apache Web Server, and IIS. Expertise in the
following technologies: Sun Solaris System/Windows NT/ Linux System/UNIX System
Administration, Oracle /Microsoft SQL/Sybase DBA, Weblogic and Websphere Java
Application Server Administration, Apache Web Server Administration, SQL
Script/Query Generation, SQL Functions/Packages/Procedures, Database Modeling
and Schema Generation, UNIX Shell Scripts, Java Application and Servlets. Mr.
Lewis is a graduate of UCLA School of Computer Science and holds the following
certifications: Microsoft Certified Engineer, Oracle Certified DBA, Novel
Certified Engineer.
Robert D. Gardner, Ph.D., Vice President, Engineering
Dr. Gardner has been producing commercial computer software for over 20 years.
His previous positions include Sr. Director of Application Development at
America Online, Chief Architect at Lotus Development's cc:Mail division, and
Manager of Macintosh Development at Borland International. Among his
accomplishments, Dr. Gardner has received a MacUser Editors' Choice Award for
cc:Mail, a MacWorld's Editors' Choice Award for the educational software
package KidsTime, and a MacWorld Top 100 Award for the music software
ConcertWare, which was deemed one of the 100 most influential software products
for the Macintosh. Most recently, Dr. Gardner led the design, architecture, and
development of Dental Connect's dentalxchange.com website, which includes
online data entry, batch claim submission, and real-time transactions for
dental insurance eligibility, claim status, and claim submission. He is an
expert in object-oriented design and development and rapid software development
processes and methodologies. He has been building leading-edge J2EE-based
systems for over 5 years. Dr. Gardner received his Bachelor of Science from
Brigham Young University in 1980 and his Ph.D. from Stanford University in
1987, both in Physics.
Thomas Mort, Director of Connectivity Services
Tom is currently the Director of Connectivity Services at EDI-Health Group,
Inc. in Irvine, California. His focus is in bringing all transaction between
Dental Providers and Dental Payers into the electronic realm. As the project
manager of the DentalXChange.com website, he implemented both batch and
real-time transactions for eligibility, claim status and claim submission.
While these transactions were varied in their format, transmission and security
requirements, Tom pushed for a standard mechanism for web portals, practice
management vendors and clearinghouses to connect to multiple payer systems. Tom
is currently involved in creating a common standard to "raise the bar" on the
quality and usefulness of the eligibility and benefit transactions.
Farhad Alaghband, Sr. Project Manager
Prior to joining EDI-Health Group, Mr. Alaghband served as a Project Manager
for a national consulting firm and worked in various industries including
healthcare, defense, and financial. He has worked on projects in database
design, development and administration, e-commerce web design and development,
systems analysis and design, client/server application development, and LAN
design, implementation and administration. Mr. Alaghband has been involved with
various cycles within the systems development life cycle and has been involved
in the all phases of and different iterations within the Rational Unified
Process. Mr. Alaghband’s technical skills include Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle,
C#, Visual Basic.NET, ASP.NET, XML, XSL/XSLT, VB Script, JavaScript, and HTML.
Mr. Alaghband graduated from the University of Southern California with a
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Information Systems Management.
He is a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer and a Microsoft Certified
Database Administrator.
